Hippocampus Reader Board News and Kudos: June 2011

man with megaphoneHippocampus Magazine has some amazingly talented folks working behind the scenes. Every so often, we’ll blog about their news, honors, accolades and accomplishments. Here is some of the latest news:

Amye Barrese Archer was named reviews editor at PANK.

Amy Barrese Archer’s second chapbook, A SHOTGUN LIFE, has been picked up by Big Table Publishing and will be released this summer.

Patricia Florio won third place in a contest from Phyllis Scott Publishing. Her winning story, “All in the Game” was published in the collection, ALL IN THE GAME AND OTHER SHORT STORIES.

Patricia Florio’s short story, “My Coney Island Baby” will be published in Short Fiction 365.

Tara Caimi, in honor of celiac disease awareness month and in an effort to help raise awareness, published, in a series of personal essays on her blog, the portion of her memoir which spotlights her celiac disease diagnosis. The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness shared part of this essay, entitled “My Rare Disease,” on its website. The full essay can be found at http://taracaimi.com.

Lori M. Myers’ short story “Reunion” published by Fictitious Magazine. Coming soon, her short story “Sugar Glider” will be published online by Milk Sugar Literary Journal.

Lori M. Myers (book and lyrics) and Ray Rhoads (music) children’s musical GLEE-FUL RAPUNZEL will be performed as part of Theatre for Young Audiences at Gretna Theatre, Mt. Gretna, Pa. on July 9, 2011. For information and tickets visit http://www.gretnatheatre.com.

Lori M. Myers’ short play SIGHT UNSEEN will be performed  by Gamut Theatre, Harrisburg, PA for their Stage Door Series, July 22-30. The play is a modernized version of one of Shakespeare’s sonnets. For information and tickets visit http://www.gamutplays.org.
