It’s almost November, and you know what that means! We’re just about ready to announce the winners of our annual contest.
This year’s Remember in November Contest for Creative Nonfiction received a record number of submissions. As always, it was a challenge to narrow down several hundred submissions to a short list, then a semi-finalist list, and, finally, to six finalists. Then, we sent off our top picks to our guest judges (Laurie Jean Cannady and last year’s winner, Dina Honour), and Nov. 1, we’ll reveal the winner.
We thought we’d give you a little sneak peek by revealing our six finalists as we kick off a new week!
We’re pleased to recognize the following writers as our 2017 contest finalists:
- Nina Boutsikaris – “Some Sort of Union”
- Gwen Erkonen – “Baptism by Fire”
- Yvonne Fein – “Taunting the Abyss”
- Blake Fluger – “Winter and Other Seasons”
- Anne Gudger – “Helix”
- Sarah Morris – “Pulp”
One of these fine wordsmiths will win our $1,000 grand prize. We’ll announce the winner and runner-up by early evening, Nov. 1, 2017, and you’ll be able to read all six stories in our new issue. Also on Nov. 1, we’ll recognize our semi-finalists and short-listers.
We’ll be back Nov. 1! We can’t wait to share our special contest issue with you!
